Event
Date: 31st October 2009
Venue: S.R.J.K. (C) Lai Meng, Jalan Ampang - 黎明华小

This year, S.R.J.K. (CI Lai Meng, the primary school that I have attended from 1990 - 1996 celebrates its 80th anniversary of establishment. This year's anniversary celebration is quite a significant one because 1) it marks the 80th year of establishment of the school since 1929 and 2) the school is going to be moved to Sri Petaling in the next 4-5 years.

There were carnival during the day, 8am - 3pm and dinner on the same day. I invited Evelyn to the carnival and I was lucky enough that she accepted my invitation. I actually need to work (8am - 5pm) on this day but still I know this event is not the thing I can miss out. Started work as usual but left the office at around 11am, picked up Evelyn and we reached the school at noon.

There were food stalls, game stalls (even a haunted house in one of the classrooms) and souvenir stalls at the basketball court and classrooms. We grabbed some food (Sushi King was selling sushi here...yum yum...) and ate in the canteen. Evelyn was telling non stop at how small everything has became but I only replied her with something like "you no longer small la".

After the food we walked around the school - the hall, the classes, the walkway - it all brings back memories. I too started taking photos from this point onwards.

Before we left... QiQi just said in facebook that this reminds her of 7 zai...

Sent Evelyn back home and I went back to the office to finish up my work. After this was pretty straight forward - left office, pick up Evelyn on the way, went back to my house, I took my shower and changed, departed to Lai Meng.

The field was covered with temporarily set up zinc rooftop and there was a big stage at one end. I was told that there were a total of 104 tables being set up, which means there were at least 1040 guests. I wasn't surprise with the huge amount of people showing up but I would expect more if it wasn't because of the limitation of the space.

I met up a lot of my primary schoolmates as well as teachers, some that I still see them frequently as well as some that I've not seeen since I left Lai Meng. I was so happy and excited to be able to see them again. Also I was so touched that even the principal (the one during my time of studies in Lai Meng) and my standard 1 form teacher were able to remember my name and call it out without anyone reminding them.

1H batch with the form teacher - 邝丽笑老师...

The famous Uncle Muthu - he seem to have forgotten the famous Roy-fighting-incident, but we definitely won't forget. It was also one of the jokes of the night...

Friends...

Lighting up the candle for the famous song - 传灯 (passing the light)

Lily and I...

Suin and I...

Finally, the only photo of Evelyn and I together taken...

There were dancing, acting, singing and martial art performance on the stage but I didn't really pay attention to it, not even to the food. I enjoyed more on catching up with friends and teachers than those. Nevertheless, I still had some sneak peek on the performance. I'm sure that the students have worked very hard as the performance was really good.
